All New American discovers fun, interesting and imaginative small American businesses every day. This week’s featured Monday Maker brought an instant smile to our faces and we are certain it will have the same effect on you.
Please meet Thomas, an 8 year old Pomeranian Poodle breed, the inspiration for Dog Threads located in Minneapolis, MN.
Thomas’ parents, Gina and Scott, round out the family.
Dog Threads is a family affair designing and hand sewing clothes that fit your dog’s personality. It started with the BBQ shirt.
In 2014 Thomas acquired his first shirt and wore it to a family 4th of July BBQ. He was an instant fashion success. His shirt became know as the ‘BBQ’ shirt and Thomas continued to wear it whenever the occasion arose.
The summer over, Gina and Scott put the BBQ shirt away and started scouting out a new shirt for Thomas, one more suitable for the cold winter MN weather. The two parents could not find anything to fit Thomas’ personality and so they designed (Gina having been a former fashion designer)
and made a classic button down shirt for him.
Soon Gina and Scott had requests from fellow dog lovers for similar shirts for their best friends.
Dog Threads was officially born in 2014.
Dog Threads offers a uniquely fun collection for all your dog’s personalities.
The BBQ collection is the foundation.
Fall/Winter rounds out the collection.
The company has incorporated a ‘giving back’ program into their business plan. They donate a portion of all proceeds to Secondhand Hounds, a MN-based nonprofit animal rescue that helps provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care and daily necessities for animals at risk, while working hard to find each a permanent and loving home.
Team All New American is delighted to feature another ‘Made in the USA’ company.
