This weekend we have a super epic grand opening in our hometown.
Founder Meagan Cann will open Workspace Collective, a new retail and design co-op featuring local designers and sustainable fashions on Main Street in Danbury, CT. The designers will now have the opportunity to share their story, and you know we love the stories.
The concept of connecting customers and designers is compelling, for both parties. In Seth Godin’s blog post “First, Connect,” he explains “in the connection economy, there’s a dividing line between two kinds of projects: those that exist to create connections, and those that don’t.”
For our community, Meagan Cann has done just that!
Connecting the customer with the designer is so important to me because I feel like it’s a total white space in our way of living. We go to the store, pick up a cute dress and go home and add it to our wardrobe. Maybe even toss it after a year. I want to provide an awareness and mindfulness in knowing the craftsmanship behind the beautiful pieces we purchase. And even more, I want to utilize fashion as a vehicle to being the community together.”
When we asked Meagan what she was most excited about for the upcoming weekend:
I’m definitely most excited about seeing the customers reaction to seeing the design process of their purchase happening right in front of them. I’m excited to see if people’s mindset may shift after seeing their garment or piece of jewelry made. I would love to see that “ah-ha” moment after seeing how a piece they are about to buy is made.”
The Workspace Collective grand opening will be September 10 + 11 at 287 Main Street in Danbury, CT. The opening will feature designers BREADXBUTTA, Ellie’s Acres, Leather J, Garnets in the Rough, Soul Threads, Mikki Mikki Art Jewelry, Fiber Elf and more.
